Don L. Vandiver

Don L. Vandiver, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 19, 2011.

Born in Saluda County, South Carolina, Don attended Attapulgus High School in Georgia. After finishing high school Don served proudly as a United States Marine from 1952 – 1955. Don worked for many years as a propane technician for Suburban Gas, Pyrofax, and Florida Gas companies. Don also worked for the Coca Cola Company, the Tallahassee Democrat, and the Southeastern Blood Bank for 8 years until he finally retired.

Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his passion for fishing and camping with his family. Above all else, Don was a devoted father and a dedicated friend.

He is preceded in death by his wife Gladys.

He is forever remembered by his loving daughters, Sandra (Roger) Gray and Donna Zingale; grandchildren, Angela Zingale, Elizabeth Perez, Bradley and Christopher Mazzella; great-grandchildren, Eden and Peter Perez.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Rd Chapel on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Big Bend Hospice or Meals On Wheels.
