
Growing up, Don played trumpet and french horn in band and was on his high school’s football team. He joined the U. S. Air Force and served in the Philippines as an MP during the Vietnam War.
After serving in the Air Force, he followed his love of music by managing a piano store, teaching guitar and playing guitar and singing at weddings. Don was known for his love of comedy and endless jokes. He even performed stand-up comedy around the Pensacola area while working on his Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of West Florida. Don went on to attend FSU where he obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology. He worked at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida for 30 years in the admissions unit, forensics unit and DBT.
Don had a passion for movies, trivia, games, golf and watching FSU football. He went to weekly movies with his friend, Bruce Chlopan. He loved video game, especially the Witcher, Fallout and Elder Scrolls series.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; aunts, Dorothy “Dot” Rink and Cathy (Clarence) Beckner.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Lynn Hunt; daughter, Roxanne Mingorance; son, Ian Hunt; granddaughter, Shiloh Mingorance; and cousins, Barbara (Roger) Annin and Sheri (John) Christen.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.
