

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Magnuson of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on February 4, 2017, in Tallahassee. She was 70 years old. Born on Long Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Audrey Heintze (Adriance). She met Peter Magnuson while attending college in Suffolk County and they were married on August 20, 1966. They moved their family to South Florida in 1972. Betty went on to a career in Elementary and Special education, receiving Masters degrees from Florida Atlantic and Florida State Universities. The family moved to Tallahassee in 1987. Betty was a member of Bradfordville First Baptist Church and loved gardening, the ocean and spending time with her grand-daughters.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Peter Magnuson of Tallahassee; son Michael Magnuson and wife Amy (Foster) of Tallahassee; daughter Cheri Magnuson and her husband Peter Sarnataro of Denver, CO; daughter Lori Magnuson of Tallahassee; brother, Daniel Heintze and wife Patricia of Apollo Beach, FL; brother Russell Heintze and wife Maryanne of Ft Meyers, FL; brother Craig Heintze of Fort Myers, FL; She was also loved and adored by her four grand-daughters Jordan(16), Avery(12), Alex(4) and Peyton(3).
Betty will be remembered most for her smile and the way she cared for others. Although she lived with cancer for nearly 25 years, she never let it define her and never stopped fighting. She will be laid to rest in Meadowwood Memorial Park in Tallahassee, FL, on Thursday, February 9th. Services will be held at 2pm at Bradfordville First Baptist with a visitation starting at 1pm.
