Errol Bernard Mickens

Mickey passed away August 12, 2010 at home with his loving family.

His journey started January 16, 1941 in Chicago, Il., Cook county. From there, at age four, he moved to New Orleans, La., where he lived most of his life. He retired to Tallahassee, Florida in 2005. The son of the late Amelia Garcia Mickens Dunn and Clinton Mickens Sr., and stepson of the late Edward X. Dunn, Sr., brother of the late Clinton Mickens, Jr. and stepbrother of Edward X. Dunn, Jr.. Errol attended school in Orleans Parish including, Sidney Collier Vocational School, where he learned his trade of mechanics, and later becoming a diesel mechanic for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. He retired from the Water Board with 30 years of service. He enjoyed putting cars together and riding motorcycles. Mickey also enjoyed remodeling homes to sell or to just help friends out on their projects. He was never too busy to help friends with what ever they had to do. RVing was a passion he enjoyed and he took most of his friends along for the ride.

He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Hagar McNeil Mickens, children Deidra Dunbar(Lance) of Spring, Tx., Tony Mickens (Isabel) of Freeport, New York, Brent Mickens of New Orleans, La. and Andre Warner (Patricia) of Baton Rouge, La.. Grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis of San Antonio, Tx., Savannah Lewis of Spring, Tx., Kylah Mickens of New Orleans, La., Andrea Benton (Lionel), Angelica Warner, Angeline Warner, Andre Warner Jr. all of Baton Rouge, La. Five Great grand children, mother-in-law Lillie M. Howard, sisters-in-law Ola M. Kenneon, Karen Daniels (Tommy), Mary A. Anderson and Brother-in-law, Rossie Howard Jr. all of Tallahassee, Fl., aunts Dorothy Mickens Buggage and Virginia Mickens Dupre of New Orleans, La. and a host of family, friends and wonderful neighbors. Mickey lived a wonderful 69 years and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2145 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, Fl. 32304.
