Faye W. Johnson

Faye was born on April 26, 1939 in Marshall, Texas. She graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles California, and Los Angeles Trade - Technical College with a degree in Administrative Services.

She was married to Melford M. Johnson, of Boyce Louisiana, on April 8, 1967, at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Throughout her husband’s lengthy career in the Marine Corps, she travelled and lived in numerous cities and states throughout the United States as well as the Far East. She and her husband became residents of Tallahassee in 1994 when they moved here from Okinawa, Japan.

She worked as an Account Supervisor with Broadway-Hale Department store, in Los Angeles, and several sales associate positions in the various places she lived.

Her principal vocation was as a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her hobbies included cooking, crafts, gardening, and raising beagles.

She is survived by her husband, Melford M. Johnson; her children, Dean E. Johnson, Leslie N. Johnson, and her granddaughter, Kendra Cassidy Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Patterson Sr., her mother, Estelle Patterson (Shaw), her brother, Joe Patterson Jr.; and her guardian aunts and uncles, Katherine and Howard Spann and Essie and Robert Wadlington.

She is survived by her nieces, Stephanie Patterson and Kimberly Carter and her cousins, Harriett Harang, Joyce Winn, Larry Spann, and Katherine (Nisey) Morgan. She is also survived by her extended family; her mother-in-law, Juvella Johnson, brothers and sisters, Melvin and Chris Johnson, Renee Dupre and Spencer Simpson, Michael and Kathleen Johnson, and her nieces and nephew: Deana Galloway, Suzanne and Bill Selby, Monique and Andy Sousa, Laynie Johnson, Patrice Johnson, and Brandon Johnson.
