
Frances Winifred Fisher (Fran) was born September 23, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, to George Kenneth Fisher and Frances Elizabeth Fisher (nee Appling). Fran passed away July 7, 2015, aged 73 years, in Tallahassee, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dr. Fisher graduated from Montgomery County (Missouri) Public Schools in 1960, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri in 1964. She later obtained her Master’s Degree in Microbiology from The University of Florida – Gainesville, where she taught for more than twenty years. In 2001 Fran earned her Doctoral Degree in Research Methods and Statistical Analysis from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her father, George Kenneth Fisher (1915-1984), her mother, Frances Elizabeth Fisher (nee Appling, 1911-2002), her older brother George Gregory (Greg) Fisher (1941-2001), and her younger brother Bradford Lance (Brad) Fisher (1953-2005).
She is survived by her brother, Mark Appling Fisher (Rebecca), of St. Charles, Missouri, by various cousins, nephews, and nieces, by her lifelong friend, Judy Nelson of St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as her devoted Florida family, Jean Casali, Michele Casali, and Penny Bolman.
