

Colonel Gail Croy, U.S. Army Retired of Tallahassee passed away February 14, 2026 at the age of 93. Colonel Croy was born in Broxton, GA on December 11, 1932. She graduated from Leon High School, Florida State University twice, once with a BS degree in Social Work and later with a BS in Nursing. She received a diploma from the Gordon Keller School of nursing in Tampa, Fl and a MS in Nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Her Nursing career included the Peace Corps with an assignment to Africa and the Army Nurse Corps with service in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. Over her 28 years of distinguished military service she was awarded the Legion of Merit (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal with Service Star, Vietnam Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and George Parker Croy Sr; Her brother Jack Carter Croy; Her sister Claudia C. Burton; Her brother George Parker Croy Jr and his wife Camilla Denisco Croy. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Camilla Croy Wallace and her husband Roy B Wallace, George Parker Croy III and his wife Sandra Kay Croy, Claudia Holland and multiple great and great, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Monday the 23rd of February at 10:00am with a reception to follow in the church hall. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Roselawn Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
