

George Gillespie, born on March 28, 1947 in Clayton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl Brabson Gillespie and Sara Brice Vest Gillespie as well as his beloved wife, Glenda Jean King Gillespie, and loving son John Kerry Roberts. George is survived by his devoted brothers, Ed Gillespie, his twin brother Jim Gillespie as well as his cherished children, Rance, Lindy, Kevin and Kyle. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his seven grandchildren (Kennedy Bryce, Brenton, Jack, Victoria, Trent, Tricia and David) and five great-grandchildren (Oliver, Emma, Jake, Eli and Noah).
A former college football player for the University of Georgia, George carried his passion for the Dawgs throughout his life. He enjoyed a successful career as a long-time produce broker, where his honesty, work ethic and dedication were well-respected in the business.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future for family and friends to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Big Bend Hospice - Tallahassee, an organization that provided compassionate care in his final days.
George will be remembered for his warmth, his legendary story-telling, his infectious smile and laughter but mostly, for the profound and positive impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
