

George passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on March 15, 2015. He was born August 3, 1926 in Pensacola, FL to George Harvey, Sr. and Nomi Walker Harvey. He was the youngest of four children-Emily, Arnelle, and Ethel. He attended St. Michael's School and high school. After duty in the Army in the states and Japan, he graduated from Marion Military Institute. He married the love of his life Rose Marie Mayhew on June 15, 1948. They had one daughter, Judith Marie Harvey (Judy). He was a long-time, faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He worked on many projects in the church and was Head Usher at 10:30 am Sunday Mass for many years.George was very active in the Knights of Columbus, having been initiated in 1942 in Pensacola Council 778. He was a charter member of Father Hugan Council 3521. He was a charter member of 4th Degree Assembly #0170. He was a two-time Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree. He was Scout Master of Troop 118 from 1950-1957.He was employed by Southeastern and Centel Telephone Company until his retirement on April 1, 1991, after 42 years. He was Financial Secretary for IBEW Union and President of the International Telephone Pioneer Association. George loved fishing and duck hunting. He was a member of Whiskey Hill Duck Camp on Lake Miccosukee. He was a many year season ticket holder to FSU football games and enjoyed tailgating with friends.George is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose Harvey and his daughter Judy Harvey. He is also survived by his sister, Ethel Steele (Bob), sister-in-law, Dot Ryan, nieces and nephews: Jane Holcomb (Steve), Janet Briggs (Jimmy), Carole Frazier (Bob), Alan Steele (Jennifer), and David Morres (Pat). He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father and mother and by his sisters: Emily Nativi (Ray), Arnnell Morres (Paul), and niece Christine Morris.Visitation will be held 5-7pm on Monday March 23, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home - Riggins Road Chapel. Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday March 24 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 624 Miccosukee Road Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Charities, Ducks Unlimited, or any charity of your choice.
