

Goldie Marie Hermann Frese, 91, of Tallahassee, Florida, entered heavenly rest on Friday, February 27, 2015.Goldie Marie was born on the family farm in Henrico County, Virginia, on December 17, 1923, to the late George Hermann, Jr., and Goldie Pearl Martin Schulz. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran Day School followed by graduation from Highland Springs High School in 1941. After training at Pan American Business School, she held various jobs.She worked twenty-nine years for the Virginia Education Association until her retirement as Production Supervisor in 1989. In 1944, Goldie Marie married Ernest Emil Frese, Master Sergeant, United States Army, of Russell, Kansas.She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Richmond, Virginia, until 1990, when her membership was transferred to Epiphany Lutheran Church, Tallahassee, Florida. Goldie Marie loved her family, helping others, gardening, travel, and painting. In retirement, she volunteered for ten years at Capitol Regional Medical Center and enjoyed art classes at the Tallahassee Senior Center. Goldie Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest, her son, Hermann Ernest Frese, and the following brothers and sisters: Mary Lee Hermann Knight, Raymond Jacob Hermann, Paul Martin Schulz, Adolf William Schulz, George Henry Hermann, William Frank Hermann, Arthur Rudolph Hermann, and John Byrd Hermann.She is survived by daughter, Johanna Christine Frese; daughter-in-law, Claudia Gayle Williams Frese; grandson, Derek Jason Frese; his wife, Nannette Lezotte Frese; great-grandchildren, Fiona Nannette and Derek Mason; a sister, Dorothy Jane Hermann Burcham; and a brother, Dr. Ernest Conrad Hermann. Goldie loved flowering plants; therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting something beautiful in her memory or taking flowers to a person who would be cheered by them.The family will receive friends, share Goldie Marie's life, and celebrate her art at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Wednesday, March 4, 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Tallahassee, with the Reverend Mark Schulz officiating.A graveside service will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, Virginia, with the Reverend Olson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.
