

Gordon Ben Hammett, 86 years young, was born 11-27-25 in Tate, GA to Fred Hammett and Lula Holcombe Hammett. He weighed less than 2 pounds, but was welcomed by two older sisters, Clara and Betty. His heavenly promotion came Saturday, 4-28-2012 at 4:00 am at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee. Alzheimers Disease took his mind, but could not touch his soul.
Ben was a retired Southern Baptist Minister of Education and Senior Adults. He loved Jesus, his family, music and FSU Baseball.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held 6:30 pm Monday, May 7th, 2012 at Seminole Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Left to carry on his legacy are his wife, Iris Deese Hammett; two sons, Fred ( Jessica) and John (Dana); grandchildren; Jeremy Hammett, Candase Heinrichs, Bethany, Sarah, John Nathan, and Annacatherine Joy Hammett. He has one great granddaughter, Skyy Hammett, a niece, Suellen Martin Dye and her two children. Other nieces are Brenda (Larry) Sweatte, Ellie (Michael) Baker, and a nephew, Jesse (Lisa) Deese and their families.
