

H. Lawrence Hardy died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, best friend, and doggies on January 3, 2022, at the age of 78. He was an only child born in Savannah, GA and lived most of his life in Florida. He attended Dan McCarthy High School in Fort Pierce, and was President of his senior class. Larry graduated from the University of Florida College of Business and was a member of Sigma Phi Epislon Social Fraternity. He attended Florida State University College of Law and was in its first graduating class. He served in Korea as a Captain in the U. S. Army (Field Artillery).
He commenced his law practice in Tallahassee in 1971. He moved to Coral Gables in 1978, and practiced with Adkins and Hardy. He served as President of the Coral Gables Bar Association and Director of the Dade County Bar Association. In 1999, he moved back to Tallahassee and joined George, Hartz law firm in their Tallahassee office. In 2013, he joined the law firm of Dennis, Jackson, Martin & Fontela until he retired. He was a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon W. Hardy, Sharon’s children Marnie Seidman, Maja Gustin, Marc Seidman, and his beloved dog Amber and grand dog Sky. Preceding him in death were his father Howard Lawrence Hardy and his mother Frances Adkins Hardy.
Larry was an only child and lost his father at 8 months old. His mother Fran raised him with strong beliefs and religion. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Eagle Scout earning the Order of the Arrow. Later in life he was Assistant Scout Master, Troop committee, Troop 333 for the Boy Scouts of America. He belonged to Kendall United Methodist Church where he married his beloved wife Sharon W. Hardy and later joined Plantation United Methodist Church.
He had great times in Moore Haven, FL at his grandparent’s hotel during the holidays with his cousins, aunts and uncles. Christmas was always his favorite holiday. When he married Sharon they had fun playing tennis, riding bikes, hiking the Appalachian Mountains and trails in many other places.
He was a great visionary, loyal friend, helpful, courteous, gracious, kind, reverent, and a genuinely true Southern Gentleman. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal … Love is Eternal.
The Memorial Service will be held at FSU Law School Rotunda at 425 W. Jefferson Street, Tallahassee on January 30, 2022 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to FSU Law School in his name.
