Helen Eugenia Scruggs

Helen Eugenia Scruggs, 88, passed away on December 14, 2011 at Kirby Pines Manor in Memphis, TN.

She was born October 18, 1923 in Aucilla, FL to Arthur J. and Mannard Bishop Scruggs. She spent most of her adult life in Tallahassee, FL and Monticello, FL. Helen retired from the Financial Services, Controller's Office at Florida State University in 1983 after 40 years of service. She enjoyed her first years in the FSU Student Bank getting to know and love all the students that she met. Helen was of the Baptist faith. She and her sister moved to Memphis, TN in 2006 to be closer to her nephew and his wife.

Her parents, three brothers and five sisters predeceased Helen.

She is survived by her sister, Myrtice Scruggs Marshall; nieces and nephews, Linda Plant Weinberg (Rod) of Center Sandwich, NH, Ralph William Martinucci (Judy Ann) of Cairo, GA, Marie Plant Messer (Mike) of Wilson, NC, Patricia Scruggs Odette of Liberty, MO, Forrest Marvin Scruggs (Susan) of Excelsior Springs, MO and Richard Scruggs Plant (Colleen) of Memphis, TN. Helen also leaves many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive visitors at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 am with a service to follow at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Kirby Pines Foundation, 3535 Kirby Rd, Memphis, TN 38115.
