Helen Jeanette Whitaker

Whitaker, Helen Jeanette (Beard), 80 of Tallahassee passed away on July 3rd, 2017. Born in Chipley, Florida on July 10th, 1936 to Roy and Alphus Beard; She was a loving mother who always put her children first. She loved family and life. Helen especially enjoyed the family vacations at St. George Island, shelling, good food, music, working in her yard, and her beloved dog Roxie. She worked for 36 years for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and was loved by her co-workers. She has spent the last 30 years with her partner, George Nugent, and he will miss her greatly.

Helen was pre-deceased by her parents, grandparents, two bothers; Edward and Harold Beard, her son, Roy Gatlin, and her granddaughter, Carey Morton.

Helen is survived by her life partner, George Nugent; daughter, Barbara (BJ) Morton; Granddaughter, Kelly Morton; two grandchildren, Kayla and Corey Morton,; her brother, Roy (Sue) Beard; sister-in-law Merlene (Harold) Beard, and several nieces and nephews.

A very special thanks goes out to the main caretakers, Dianne, Charity, and Valeria. They were her "Angels on earth" and the family will be forever grateful for their love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice (www.choosecovenant.org).

A memorial visitation will be held at Culley's MeadowWood at 1737 Riggins Road from 11 - 12PM on Friday, July 7th, 2017 with a celebration of life service at 12P noon.
