Mr. James (Jim) William Carraway, 67, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019, at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Christian Heritage Church. Services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Heritage Church officiated by Pastor Steve Dow. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Sylvania Cemetery in Faceville, GA.

James was born in Chattahoochee, FL, on December 13, 1951, to Buford Carraway and Lou Bea Carraway. On June 26, 1982 and again on January 17, 2003, he married Sarah Susan Williams in Chattahoochee, FL. He was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School. James worked as a Unit Treatment Rehabilitation Specialist for Florida State Hospital for 30 years until his retirement in 2001. After growing up and living near the lake and river most of his life, he found a true passion for fishing; and in his later years he could be found watching Fox News and/or History Channel absorbing as much knowledge of the world as he could. He was also an avid gun enthusiast and enjoyed collecting guns, knives and swords.

Of all the great things in his life, he was most proud of his son, Derek, and all of his accomplishments in life. He was so happy that Derek had found his true love and that a marriage was in their future and talked frequently about being excited about a future wedding.

He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Carraway; mother, Lou Bea Carraway; and beloved aunt, Clara Kent.

His is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Susan; son, Derek; sister, Lucy Conner (Jon); cousin, Helen Batts; and other cousins. He always considered Sarah’s family as his own.

Sarah and Derek, Phyllis and I were saddened when we heard about Jim’s home going. We were in Beckley West Va., so we missed the services. I have been so inspired by watching Jim Over the years in his struggles. I am amazed at his determination. I will always remember his joyful expression. Heaven has been enriched at his entrance and will be blessed as he joins the on going worship and other activities.

Just a word to say thanks from Buddy Mills and I for always being an intricate part of his memory. Susan and Derrick we are praying for peace in your knowing both of you were loved very much by Jim. Buddy said and I agree, go rest high on the mountain Uncle Jim...
In our prayers Buddy and Annette Mills.

One of my first memories of Jim was nearly 30 years ago when Derek and my son attended pre-school together. He kept talking about Susan. I finally had to ask if he was talking about Sarah.
We had a good laugh. He will be missed.
