James Daniel McKendree, Jr.

Jimmy was born on March 28, 1934 in Jacksonville, FL. He was a devoted member of Gospel Light Baptist Church (formerly Southside Baptist Church) in Tallahassee for the past 62 years. He retired from CSX Railroad in Tallahassee after 44 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and FSU football, but his greatest enjoyment was his family, his church, and his wife’s cooking.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James & Lucille McKendree and his brother, Randall McKendree. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Christine; three children, Thomas McKendree (Sharon), Sharon Allbritton (Bobby) and Greg McKendree (Susan), all of Tallahassee; brothers, Jerry (Barbara) McKendree and Wayne (Nancy) McKendree; sister, Elaine (Craig) Hubbell; sister-in-law, Marylou Weber; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Rivera, Matthew McKendree, Robby (Ashley) Allbritton, Richy (Kathleen) Allbritton, Kelly (Michael) Bane, Andy (Leann) McKendree, Kendall (Brian) Curry, Courtney McKendree and Dustin McKendree; along with nine great grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.

The funeral service will be a private service for family on Monday, August 10th. Interment will be at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road. There will be a drive-by tribute at the gravesite for any friends wishing to ride by and show their love and respect to the family between 12:45pm and 1:15pm.
