

Dr. James Douglas Warren, Jr. (“J.D.”), 77, a retired chemist and manager with the Florida Department of Agriculture, and a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., passed away on August 29, 2021 in Tallahassee.
A son of the late James D. Warren, Sr., and Earline Caldwell, J. D. was born in Wadley, Alabama, on Nov. 3, 1943. After attending Jacksonville State (Ala.) J.D. received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Florida State. He was a longtime member of Killearn UMC in Tallahassee, where he served with the Food Bank and enjoyed building sets for the Living Christmas Story. Some of his other passions were gardening and historical research.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, James Gjertsen. He is survived by Lamons, his wife of 54 years; daughters Andrea Pound (Chris) and Abby Gjertsen (John); grandchildren Valor, Percy, Mystery, and Glory, who will all miss Papa dearly; sister Suellen Edmondson; and brothers Royce Warren and Damon Warren. The family would like to thank the staff at The Grove at Canopy for caring for J.D. in his final days.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, Sept. 3, at Killearn UMC. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
