It was in the service that he got training in medical and dental arts while serving throughout the Pacific region. After five years, he launched into civilian life in New Orleans working as a dental technician. Over the years, he built a successful dental lab business of his own. You’d often find him at the lab listening to cassettes (and later CDs) of the Bible for hours a day. Jasper had a deep knowledge of Scripture and enjoyed studying prophecy. He also had a steadfast love for the people of Israel and his Jewish brothers and sisters.
Some of his happiest memories were made hunting on the family ranch with his wife (his “best hunting buddy”) and brothers in Texas. Among his many unique skills was his ability to craft custom, handmade jewelry – including his and Marie’s wedding bands. He was also a talented chef and baker. His specialties included eye-wateringly spicy Cajun-fare, honed during his years in Louisiana. Jasper’s legendary cheesecakes fetched top bids at charity auctions and caused stampedes at church social events.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Marie Norris, his son, Steve, daughter, Sandra (Joe), stepdaughter Shannon (Sheldon) and grandchildren Joey, Kate, Nick and Matt.
The family is holding a private committal service with military honors at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
All are invited to join a formal ceremony and celebration of Jasper’s Life at Culley’s MeadowWood on Timberlane Road on Monday, February 2nd at 11:00am. A lunch will follow at that same location.
Donations can be made in Jasper’s honor to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at ifcj.org or America’s Vet Dogs at vetdogs.org.
