

Born in Greenwood, SC on January 28, 1943, he was the son of the late Vachel Hughey Hinton and Sudie Mae Canfield Hinton. He was the COOP Program Manager with the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Preparedness and Response. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Korea and Vietnam, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He is survived by daughter Lisa Hinton-Walker and son-in-law Michael D. Walker, of Hollywood, FL; daughter Deborah S. Eldredge of Plantation, FL; former spouse Patricia M. Hinton and mother to daughters Elizabeth Paige Hinton of Tallahassee and Jennifer Eve Hinton-Ingram and son-in-law James Ingram, Jr. of Havana, FL; brother Harry Hinton of Simpsonville SC; nephews John Hardin, Jay and Jamie Hinton; four grandchildren Matthew, Brittney, Sean and Gage; five step-grandchildren Damien, SophieRae, Ashleigh, Cassandra and Sebastian; and former spouse and best friend Miriam G. Hinton.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 4:00 p.m., at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee.
