Joan Pullins Green, 78, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. Joan was a native of Berea, Kentucky and moved to Tallahassee in 1962. She worked 27 years with her beloved best friend, Mary Cox, at Tallahassee Beauty Supply. When the business was closed, she began working for Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, where she adored, and was adored by, her coworkers. She retired in 2014, but missed working so much that she soon went back. Joan was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and an avid FSU fan. She and Curtis loved spending Saturdays watching football and tailgating with friends. She enjoyed cooking for and being with family during the holidays, but she especially loved Christmas. After lunch, she would sit at the table for hours just talking with her family. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend. She was undoubtedly one-of-a-kind and will be missed terribly.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Cecil and Pauline Pullins; her husband: Curtis Green; son: Larry D. Powell; brother: Leroy Pullins; and grandson: Wyn Scott.
She is survived by her children: Pam (Tom) Anderson of Valdosta, GA, Doug Powell of Crawfordville, Stephanie (Tommy) Scott of Waleska, GA, William (Allison) Green of Tallahassee; grandchildren: Eric (Stacy) Anderson, Christy Anderson, Emily and Caroline Green, Nicki Scott; and great-grandchildren: Mason Anderson, Halle May and Ethan Cox.
The family will receive friends at 10am, followed by a service at 11am, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32303.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
