John N Rigdon

Nick was born in Tifton, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. He graduated from Florida State University with a degree in accounting. He lived many years in Panama City, Florida before moving to Tallahassee in 1988. After retiring from the Florida Department of Insurance in 1999, he enjoyed photography, trips to Nova Scotia, the backyard birds and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Betti Lawrence Rigdon of Tallahassee; son John Rigdon, Jr. and daughter Kathleen Kaeding of Panama City; Donna Wheeler of Cape Coral; and Nancy Lovrekovic of Whitleyville, TN; step-daughters Julie Murphree of Atlanta and Laurie Roughton of Tallahassee; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grand children; two brothers Ralph (Evelyn) Rigdon of Tifton, Georgia and Sam (Carol) Rigdon of Buena Vista, Georgia, and a sister-in-law Hazel Rigdon of Brunswick, Georgia. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Nick was predeceased by his brother Grady Rigdon and sister Evelyn Mims.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Riggins Road. Private memorial service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
