Even though we were not related, the McGarritys and the Myrtetus family were of the same cloth. So, so many memories from the Collingwood days and later in Scotch Plains. Joe's mom and dad were my parents best friends.I went all thru grammar school (St. Johns) with Joe. There was not a sweeter or nicer boy.Prayers for the family. I know Joe brought much joy to you and all his devoted  friends.

Words could never express how much we love and miss you !  You were such a very special person in our lives !  I will always cherish and hold dear to my heart our childhood and lifetime memories !

Your courageous health battle was a true inspiration to us .  You showed the true meaning of the FIGHTING IRISH spirit ! !

John said it will always make him smile when he thinks of you and Ed singing Irish Songs at Pompano Track, and picking the winning horses !

Joe, you were my first dancing partner here, and you'll be my first dancing partner again up in heaven ! !

I took care of Joe during his last few days at TMRC and I wish I could explain how sweet he was to the staff. It saddens me that someone as amazing and caring as Joe is gone so soon. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends!

I enjoyed working with Joe at DEP and having him as a neighbor for many years. He was a good and caring person and was always kind and thoughtful.  So sorry for your loss.

I worked with Joe at DEP for 7 years.  He was a nice, kind, gentle person, always friendly and a smile on his face. Rest in Peace Joe.  We will miss you.

Dear Joe,

You have always been a cheerful presence in my life. I remember watching over you at Roberts Pool, and enjoying your happy-go-lucky company at all of the McGarrity picnics in your parents' back yard. 

We had a chance to get together in DC when my children were little, and I'm very grateful that they met you.  Although we mostly stayed in touch through Christmas cards until last year, my memories of you are happy ones. 

In observing the overwhelming love that your family, and widely extended family of friends showed during my recent visit, I realized how many lives you touched and influenced for the better. Everyone I spoke with had beautiful memories of how you had brought joy and fun to their lives. 

You have been surrounded by the love and happiness that you freely gave to everyone who crossed your path. Like ripples in a pond, your goodness will continue to touch all of us who loved you, and to influence the world for the better.

You have a bushel of good deeds to accompany you. Travel freely and lightly among the stars, dear cousin, knowing that your love will forever shine brightly here on earth.
