Joyce Jerkins Moore, 80, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away January 22, 2013, after a life dedicated lovingly to her family and a career in medical insurance.
Born in Dothan, Alabama, Joyce grew up in Panama City, Florida, lived in Loma Linda, California and Miami, Florida. For the past twenty-four years, she enjoyed the beauty of the Tallahassee.
Her extended family was nourished by her generous spirit and excellent Southern cooking. Her loving husband of sixty-two years, Dr. C. Frank Moore cherished her and survives her, along with her brother, Wayne Jerkins of Birmingham, AL, sons, Greg Moore of Tallahassee and Tim Moore of Orlando, their wives, her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and extended family, who were all a dear part of her life.
Joyce was also an avid reader and lover of flowers. Like the delicate yet enduring orchids that she loved, she survived the loss of her daughter Karen with strength and grace. She proudly held a degree in Psychology with a minor in Astronomy. National politics, football, and the Florida weather were favorite topics of discussion, and her many dogs provided her years of joy.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM EST, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road. Donations to the American Heart Association may be made in her name in lieu of flowers.
