

Joyce Clifton Nahoom, 95 years old, long time resident of Tallahassee, passed away in Pembroke Park, FL in the company of her family members on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be held for her at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tallahassee, on Saturday, March 1st at 10:00 am, immediately followed by a graveside ceremony at Oakland Cemetery, where she will rest near her husband F. Joseph Nahoom.
She was born of Samuel Dozier Clifton and Louise Lindquist Clifton on March 30, 1918, in Ft. Lauderdale, and raised in DeLand, Fl. She was the oldest of four children, and was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Clifton. She graduated from Florida State College for Women in May 1939. During a college function, she met her late husband F. Joseph Nahoom, a University of Florida graduate. They were married in November of 1938.
She lived in Tallahassee until March, 2009. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Mother Seton Circle, and the Tallahassee Garden Center. She was a homemaker, and worked at American Restaurant Supply Company, owned and operated by her late husband Joe Nahoom, until the business was sold in October, 1989. She is survived by two sons; Francis J. Nahoom, Pembroke Park, Fl., & James (Jim) L. Nahoom, Tallahassee, Fl; two daughters; Christine N. Prusak (husband, Zach Prusak) Davie, Fl. & Janet N. Foy, Tallahassee, Fl.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grand children. Also, her two sisters, Gladys Clifton, Cantonville, MD; Marie Hedges, Reidsville, NC; Sister-In-Law, Margaret Clifton, Maitland, Fl and Brother-In-Law, B.F. (Tom) Thomas, Tallahassee, Fl. She also leaves behind 11 nieces and 12 nephews.
Her warm hugs, wit, tendency to dance, and laughter will be greatly missed.
