Judith Evangeline Jacobson was born July 26th, 1945, in Karawa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) to Dr. Wallace and Sarah Thornbloom. She was the youngest of 5 siblings, Beverly, Bob, Karen, and Lois. Judy’s roots in Africa manifested throughout her life with a sense of adventure, curiosity, and zest for life combined with a deep compassion for those around her. She moved to the US at the age of 13. In her senior year of high school, she met the love of her life Tim Jacobson. They had 3 girls, Tina (deceased), Julie, and Janelle. Judy and Tim moved to Florida as a young couple. They always had a home where family and friends come to visit for some sun, fun, and to spend time with a beautiful couple with a joy for life.
Judy was trained as a medical assistant, a real estate agent, and a massage therapist. She worked in each profession with compassion and caring to improve the lives of those she touched. She was an Elder Emeritus at Christ Presbyterian church in Largo, Florida. In addition to spending time with her daughters, Judy loved walks on the beach or in the park, seeing her friends, being creative, volunteering, animals, and was always up for an excursion. Judy passed peacefully on December 3rd and is survived by her 2 daughters and their families as well as her 2 sisters, Lois and Karen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to her daughter’s non-profit carrying forward the family’s work in global health, Bridges to Development https://bridgestodevelopment.org/.
