Lee Robert Foley passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025 in Tallahassee. He was 89 years old. Lee was born on September 30, 1936 in Lewiston, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mabel Foley.
Lee was a hardworking man devoted to service and helping others. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1954 and served honorably for over 20 years as a special weapons expert. A proud Vietnam veteran, he completed three tours during the war, a defining chapter of his military career. He retired in September 1974 at the rank of SSgt. After his military service, he spent several years in law enforcement before dedicating over 25 years to teaching karate, sharing his passion for martial arts with others.
A Mustang enthusiast, Lee loved to spend his time working on both his convertible and hardtop GT 5.0. He was always tinkering and repairing everything in sight and never slowed down. Lee touched many lives with his fun-loving spirit, enthusiasm, and warm personality.
After a decades-long search filled with determination, Lee discovered that his birth mother was Marie-Anne Labbe of Lewiston, Maine. Just five weeks before his passing, he traveled to New Hampshire to meet members of his biological family for the first time and to visit Marie-Anne's grave -- a deeply meaningful, final journey of closure, connection, and peace.
Lee was preceded in death by his son Lee Foley, Jr. He is survived by his five children, Edward Foley (Toshi), Gary Foley, Robert Foley (Alicia), John Foley (Ella), and Kathleen Alcorn (Titus); 23 grandchildren, Melanie Foley, Tiffany Kingston (Chad), Ryan Foley, Lee Foley, Patrick Foley, Michael Foley, Christopher Quick (Racheal), Alayna Foley, Isaiah Foley, Samantha Martinez (Jose), Brett Foley (Stephanie), Andrew Foley, Monica Morales, Josue Morales, Javier Morales, Melody Hanna (Daniel), Gabriel Alcorn (Madison), Benjamin Alcorn, Sophia Alcorn, Hannah Alcorn, Ariel Alcorn, Joseph Alcorn, and Zachariah Alcorn; and many great-grandchildren.
