

passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the age of 87 years old. He died peacefully in his sleep at home, with his wife Paula M. Songer, and son Kevin Songer by his side.
He was born in Unicoi, Tennessee on October 31, 1933. He graduated from Miami Edison High where he ran track. He married the love of his life, Paula Morrow in June 1956 at Hialeah Church of Christ, and he attended Georgia Tech’s engineering program in Atlanta and proceeded to become a professional engineer and surveyor. He was employed over the years with Radar Engineering, Miami, Florida; Biscayne Engineering, downtown Miami; Engineering Inspector for the City of Coral Gables; Engineering Inspector, Right of Way Division, and Street Light Engineer for Metro Dade County; Leon County Engineer; City of Tallahassee Operations Engineer; Kaiser Engineers, Greenman Pederson, Florida DOT Deputy Construction Engineer Sunshine Parkway and PBS&J. He was also a veteran of the US Army.
Louis was a strong proud man. He was a good and loving Dad, Grandaddy, and Great Grandaddy, and a wonderful father figure. He loved his family very much and will be loved and missed by many.
He was a golden glove boxer, an avid fisherman, and loved gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nile and Ruth Songer, his sister, Janice Nadine Songer-Vecchio, his daughter, Janna Lynn Songer and his son, Brian Keith Songer. Survivors include his beloved wife, Paula M. Songer; Kevin Songer (son)and wife Judy, Leisa Songer Cowan, daughter; Scott Songer, (son) and wife Robin. Other survivors include grandchildren, Jincy and Rauiri Songer, CJ Songer, Chris (Tony) Songer, Brittany Cowan, Joshua Cowan (son) and wife Ashley, Keith and Suzie Songer, Lauren Lazar, Jenny Youngbar, and Allie Songer. Grandaddy also left a legacy of 13 great grandchildren; Zachary, Kayleigh, Liam, Mason, Luka, Esther, Kenley, Trystn, Tatum, Skye, Natalia, Peyton and Gonzalo, and Lily due in June 2021, who held special places in his heart.
