

She was born on December 4, 1915, in Hinesville, Georgia, to Benjamin and Rosa Ray. After graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from the Florida Barber and Beauty College of Science in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a Licensed Cosmetologist for 60 years before retiring. She had lived in Tallahassee since 1947. She was a 50 year member of First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, and an active member of Her Sunday School Class, until her health began deteriorating.
Lucille was a kind, loving and gentle woman who loved God, her family and friends, gardening, her profession, and crocheting. She created many intricate and delicate pieces of crochet that will be forever treasured along with our wonderful memories.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn S. Craig of Tallahassee and Marylou S Broxson (John) of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Christopher Craig (Myndi) and Chad Craig, of Tallahassee, Patti B. Lapinski (Mike) of Glendale, Arizona, and John Broxson, Jr. (Karen) of Marietta, Georgia; four great grandchildren, Natasha Broxson, Matthew Broxson, Brian
Lapinski, and Steven Lapinski; one brother, Benjamin Ray, Jr.; and sister, Gertrude Spivey, Fernandina Beach, Florida.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home Chapel, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida, on Monday, February 11, 2013. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm – 3:00pm followed by a service at 3:00pm. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the service.
