Margaret Elizabeth Murray

Margaret Elizabeth Murray, known affectionately as Margie, passed away on September 8, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 77. Born on June 16, 1947, in Quincy, Florida, she was the cherished daughter of the late Daughty Williams Smitherman and Murk Lee Smitherman.

Margie led a life marked by her loving, thoughtful, and compassionate nature. She found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, sewing, and baking, which brought her personal satisfaction and allowed her to share her love and care with others.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted husband, William Benjamin Murray; her daughter, Katherine Hubbard, and son-in-law, John Hubbard; grandsons, Jack and Charlie Hubbard; her son, Brian Saul, daughter-in-law, Laurie Saul, and granddaughters, Maggie and Abbie Saul. Margie is also survived by her siblings, Bettye Gatson, Murk Smitherman (Cathy), Willie Smitherman (Arlene), Mike Smitherman, and Debbie Young (Eddie). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Granger, Phoebe Cook, and Ann Peters.

A service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 in the morning at the First United Methodist Church, located at 18 W. Marion Street, Chattahoochee, Florida 32324. The family invites all who knew Margie to join them in honoring her memory.
