Margie was born on November 12th, 1939 in Tifton, Georgia, the daughter of Claude and Nora Jones, and sister of Ted Jones. She grew up as a young girl with very few material things, and described one summer living on only the pears from a tree in the backyard, but she also told stories of how she was always supported by a loving extended family of strong women, including her Aunt Adra Gibson. At 16 she met and married a young Airman, Joseph Harold Brosch. She lived the life of an Air Force spouse, and together they raised four children where ever the Air Force sent them in the United States and overseas.
One would never think that when a high school snare drummer sneaks off during half time to get married, her future would be bright, but hers is a story of achievement after achievement. She earned her GED, and then moved into various positions of leadership among the spouses groups and church groups at the Air Force bases her family was assigned, to include President of the Enlisted Spouses Club. Following the 1980 passing of her husband, by that time Senior Master Sergeant Brosch (retired), she attended Tallahassee Community College and earned her Associates degree, and then Florida State University to earn her Bachelor’s degree. Ask her what her favorite color is and there is only one answer: Garnet and Gold!! She was a ‘Noles fan through and through. She and her new partner Ray loved to host friends and family at her “party barn” to watch football games.
With her new degree, she joined the professionals who work for the State of Florida in the Department of Revenue, once again moving into positions of leadership and trust, and again earning a reputation for mentoring and advocating for women in the workplace.
In her final days her children, Debbie Perodeau and husband Mark, Dale Brosch and wife Laurie, Susan Brosch, Scott Brosch and wife Lisa, granddaughter Morgan Hodge, as was her loving partner of almost 20 years, Donnie Ray Quick, were by her side.
Besides her children, she leaves behind five grandchildren, Andrew and Benjamin Perodeau, Morgan Hodge, Colin and Katie Brosch and three great grandchildren, Holden and Layla Perodeau, and Isabelle DeLeon-Gonzalez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 29th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida, 32308.
As she was twice a survivor of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Margie’s name to the American Cancer Society of Tallahassee
