

Marilyn was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1936 to H. Luke Miller and Beatrice Mae Graumenz Miller. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedar Crest College and her Master of Arts degree in English from Lehigh University. She later received a second Master of Arts in Linguistics from Jersey City State College.
Marilyn shared her lifelong love of reading and learning with her thousands of students over fifty years as an educator. She taught high school English and retired from Summit High School in Summit, New Jersey and then began a second career at Valdosta State University (VSU) in Valdosta, Georgia. She retired from VSU in 2018. While teaching English, Marilyn also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from VSU.
Marilyn loved classical music, reading, birdwatching, and rescuing animals. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in her lifetime.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Julia Allan (Mark Pasquariello), Kenneth Walser (Laney McLean), James Walser (Sacha), six grandchildren, her sister Carole Mallender and husband William "Bill," two nephews, several stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and countless friends.
Marilyn made an impression on everyone she met. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
