Mildred J. Williams, 89, of Tallahassee, died Wednesday (3/23) at her home. She was a native of Los Angeles, California and met her husband Walter there on the Santa Monica Pier. Walter was in the Navy when they married. As his career as an engineer took him many places she moved with him wherever he was working. During that career she remained active wherever they moved. When in Mobile, AL she was President of the Garden Club and when in Tampa she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. They came to Tallahassee 47 years ago from Jacksonville and became a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, worked for Montgomery Wards for many years and also operated Williams Automation with her husband before retiring. She was a very active volunteer with the Leon County School System.
Preceded in death by Walter, her husband of 52 years, survivors include her daughter: Rhonda (Randy) Cannon of Tallahassee; son: James (Carolyn) Williams of Delray Beach; grandchildren: Bryan Hatcher, Christy Cannon, Alice Cannon, Debra Cannon, Charlene Williams; and seven great-grandchildren.
