Mirtha Hernandez, aged 77, died peacefully on April 24, 2017, in Palmetto, Florida after a brief struggle with heart disease. Mirtha was born March 14, 1940, in Camaguey, Cuba, the daughter of Manolo Espino and Esperanza Espino.
In 1965, Mirtha married the love of her life, Julio Hernandez, shortly after immigrating to the United States. They went on to live and work together in various states, including New Jersey, California, Texas and Florida. Along the way, Mirtha and Julio had three children: Julio, Jr., Carlos and Danny.
Mirtha’s life revolved around caring for her husband and sons, which she always made a priority. She ensured they never lacked for anything that she could provide, notwithstanding any personal sacrifices she might have to make. An excellent cook, Mirtha’s wonderful Cuban food will always be missed.
In 2014, Mirtha’s loving husband died and took a piece of Mirtha’s heart with him. She now rests by his side, which was what she desired most in life and in death.
Mirtha is survived by her sons, nine grandchildren, four siblings and a number of other relatives and friends.
