Born on August 1, 1980, in Rockledge, Florida, Morgan was the youngest of three daughters of Robert and Pamela Thompson. She spent her childhood in Melbourne and Tallahassee, graduating from Leon High School before earning a degree in Criminology from Florida State University.
Morgan dedicated more than twenty years of service to the Florida Department of Education, where she worked in the Office of Professional Practices. She was deeply respected for her integrity, dedication, and steadfast commitment to her work.
She will be remembered for her sharp intelligence, quick wit, and warm sense of humor, which brought pleasure to all who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was her twin boys. The unique bond and endless love she felt for them was evident in everything that she did.
Morgan developed a love for boating and fishing at a young age. She often carried a hand line, hook, and bait—just in case an opportunity to fish arose. This lifelong passion brought her great happiness, and she was never more at peace than when she was out on the water.
Morgan was well known for her love of animals, especially cats. From age five when she brought her first cat home, throughout her life, any cat could find a permanent home with her.
Morgan is survived by her sons; her parents; her sisters, Kelly Griffin (John) and Heather Deyo; nieces, Parker and Ella Deyo and Emma Griffin; and nephews, Ian and Angus Griffin who knew her as Aunt MoMo; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A private funeral service will be held for the family. A Celebration of Morgan’s Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Morgan’s memory to Big Bend Hospice.
