

Olga M. Castro, 70, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 12 at 11:25am at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL after a 7 year long and valiant battle with endometrial cancer. She was born on March 17, 1946 in San Jose, Costa Rica. She lived in Guatemala City, Guatemala from 1971 until 1981 when she migrated to the United States with her four children. The family settled in Miami, FL. Olga started her own business, a home daycare in Kendall and worked long hours to provide for her children. She moved to Tallahassee, FL in 2003 after the birth of her first granddaughter. From 2004 until 2015 she worked as personal assistant to Dr. Marie Becker. Olga was a loving and fun grandmother who doted on and took delight in spoiling her grandchildren. Olga was a woman with an admirable work ethic, a selfless love of people in need and a deep love of family. She leaves behind two daughters; Mia Minton (47), Mariel McGrath (43) twin sons Sergio Alvarez (40) and Jose Bayardo Alvarez (40) and five grandchildren; Emilia (13) & Alexa (11) Minton, Justin (13) & Brooke (11) McGrath and Tyler Alvarez (10). A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 16th at 1pm at St. John's Episcopal Church. Memorial donations may be make in Olga's name to Florida Cancer Specialists.
