He was born in Ocilla, GA on May 28th, 1952. Randy was the youngest of 6 kids. His next closest sibling was 13 years his senior which gave him the gift of many close cousins, nieces, nephews. While he held fond memories of growing up on the farm including selling watermelons out of the back of a truck with his Dad, Randy pursued electrical work which ultimately led him to Tallahassee, Florida. He was the successful owner and manager of Gemini Electric for nearly 40 years before retiring in Lanark, Florida. He called this home “Paradise”.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell Jones Harper and Randall Harper; his siblings J.C. Harper, Lanell Harper, Jeanette Carver and Jacqueline Tucker.
He is survived by his children Rory and Lisa; two grandchildren; and his sister Helen Quinn. In addition, Randy leaves behind an extensive network of cousins, nieces and nephews; many fishing buddies; and his dear friend Linda Strickland.
His favorite activities in life included spending time with his loved ones; boating; fishing by rod, castnet or crab pot; shootin’ the bull with buddies; and riding his UTV with his best dog Toby, looking for bears. He will be remembered for his Harper-style humor - always quick with a gentle tease, and his generosity, especially when it came to sharing raw oysters.
A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at Culley’s MeadowWood at 1737 Riggins Rd, in Tallahassee, on Monday, October 6th, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Big Bend Hospice Foundation.
