Born September 15, 1937 in Grosvenordale, CT., he was the son of Donald Mayo and Gertrude Poirier Mayo. For years, Ron traveled throughout New England, PA, and MD with his portable laboratory, collecting and processing specimens primarily from show stock bulls. He loved his work and said it was a sad day when he could no longer outrun the bulls and had to retire!
He moved to NC., played a lot of golf, continued being an active member of the B.P.O.E and opened a home improvement business that his son still operates today. He moved to Monticello, FL in 2010.
Ron is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Cournoyer of Dudley Mass, with whom he always shared a special relationship; his four children: Linda Ipaye (Toyne) of Meridian, Idaho; Jeffrey Mayo (Phyllis) of Putnam, CT; Eric Mayo (Penny) of Longwood, NC; and Michelle Mayo (Gary) of Boise, Idaho. He loved each of his children and was proud of the adults that they had become. He also leaves loved grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, long time friends and his loving companion and friend, Diane Johnson of Monticello, FL.
Arrangements are being handled by Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home. Interment is private with a Celebration of Life ceremony to be planned at a later date.
