

Roy Riber Hovland was born in Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 26, 1926, to the parents Otto and Ragna Hovland. He passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 2009 in his home after suffering from a long illness. He served time in the Merchant Marines during W.W.II, lived in St. James, NY while working as a foreman for LILCO. Later he moved his family to Naples, Fla., in 1969, where he suffered an electrical accident as a lineman. He then attended and graduated from Florida State University with a Master's Degree in Science in 1975. Mr. Hovland was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Hovland. He is survived by his children, Craig Hovland and wife Cindy, Catherine Moore and husband Jack, from Saranac Lake, NY and Beth Ross and husband Adam of Atlanta, GA. Also survived by grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Moore, Jennifer Stavenhagen, Megan Roberts, Greta Spicer, Emma and Gracie Ross. Great grandchildren, Maddie Stavenhagen and born the next day of his passing, Nevan Roberts. Roy Hovland is also survived by his sister, Joan Handshaw of Naples, FL. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon EST Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32312 (850-877- 8191).
