

Sammie K. Wilfong, 87, of Tallahassee, died Sunday (8/23) at Big Bend Hospice. A native of Midland City, Alabama she came to the Tallahassee area in 1938 from Leavenworth, Kansas. Sammie spent her career as a computer programmer and was a member of LifePoint Church. Sammie enjoyed reading and cooking. She was well known for her baking, particularly her special cookies and would always have them ready for the times when she could be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A music enthusiast, she played the Autoharp and wrote several pieces; one of which she shared with the Hospice group and is still in use for music therapy.
Survivors include her children: Cathy Boyett of Tallahassee, Linda (Ray) Young of Weatherford, TX; three grandchildren: Laurel Matthews, Amanda Boyett, Jason Young; and four great-grandchildren: Aiden Boyett, Dorothy Marie Matthews, Amelia Matthews, and Nikola Young.
