Shannon was preceded in death by his father, Shannon McCrary, his mother Margaret and stepfather Gordon Snyder. Shannon is survived by his wife Vicki McCrary; his three children; daughters Jennifer (Billy) Purvis, Ashlee (John) Jessup and son Scott McCrary; grandchildren, Mallorie (Dylan) Walsh, Dustin Purvis, Taylor Purvis, Colden Purvis, McKinlee Jessup and Nolen Jessup.
Shannon retired from the Department of Economic Opportunity in August 2015 after 35 years of employment with the state. Shannon was a man of few words but had a dry, satirical wit that he used often. He tried to show a tough exterior but was known for loaning money to coworkers when they were in need. Shannon loved his family dearly and was loved by them.
A service for the celebration of Shannon's life will be held Saturday, November 10th at 12:30 at Culley's on Riggins Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
