Sherry Lee “Lee” Harris, born April 22, 1955 in Quincy, Florida, passed peacefully surrounded by love and her children on the evening of February 16, 2026. She spent nearly her entire life in Tallahassee, where she built a life full of family, friendship, and stories shared across kitchen tables, front porches, and local shops where she was always known by name.
Lee had a generous and tender heart, one that welcomed everyone in. She never met a stranger — only people she hadn’t had the chance to love yet. She believed in the beauty of small moments: a good conversation, a rose in bloom, a slice of cake baked with care. Her warmth made others feel at home in her presence, and her laughter could brighten even the hardest day.
For 42 years, Lee worked for the State of Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation, where her steadiness, dedication, and kindness touched countless coworkers and friends. But her greatest joys were found in her roles beyond work — as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family deeply.
She found delight in antiquing and collecting treasures, in nurturing her garden — especially her roses — and in baking the most beautiful, delicious cakes for the people she loved. She was also happily kept company by her beloved cats, Lina and Walter, who were always near her side.
Lee is cherished and remembered by her daughter Brandi Markiewicz and her husband Erik; her son Matt Harris and his wife Alyssa; her sister Janie Stiehl; and her grandchildren Grant, Braylei, Jack, and Rylen. She is also remembered with love by extended family and dear friends, many of whom she gathered into her life simply by being herself.
Her presence was gentle, but her impact was lasting. She taught love through kindness, generosity, the sharing of stories, and the simple art of paying attention to others. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth — one that will continue in the gardens she tended, the recipes she perfected, the heirlooms she collected, and the hearts she shaped.
