Thomas D. “Tom” Hinson, age 65, of Tallahassee passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on August 16, 1949 to Ernest Hinson and Rose Barlow Hinson. Tom started his career in the banking industry with Barnett Bank and ended as President of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle Credit Union. He enjoyed go-kart racing, fishing, bird hunting, and FSU football.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Lauren (Mike) Hinson-Cross and Leigh Hinson (Tim Russell); one sister, Phyllis Kirstein of St. Petersburg, Fl.; and two grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road in Tallahassee with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Big Bend Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.
