Tom was born on November 12, 1955 in Tallahassee to Catherine and Thomas Earl Nobles, Sr. He took great pride in the way he was raised by his parents, and always talked about “what his Dad taught him.” He was a proud graduate of the Leon High School class of 1973 and attended FSU. His smile was infectious and there was never a day that Tom didn’t share a story of his and his school friends’ antics. In 1977 he joined the Parks Division of the Department of Environmental Protection, and served in several different capacities including assistant superintendent of St. George Island State Park. Upon his retirement from the State, he joined the Capital City Bank as their Security Specialist and remained in that position until his death. While his job with the State was good, he bragged that his job at the Bank “was the best job I ever had.” He was greatly admired by his fellow associates and again, with his sneaky grin and laughter always had a story to share with them about something crazy or fun.
While he loved his work, he was also a big fan of FSU baseball and football. His greatest love though was for the game of golf. His idea of a perfect day was playing a Saturday round at St. James Bay in Carrabelle with his golf buddies. Throughout his 59 years he was a respected member of the Franklin County community and was also active in the Free Masons Society and a leader of the Boy Scout community. While he never had children, he always considered all the Boy Scouts he mentored as his special children.
His father preceded him in death in 2010. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 35 years, Pam Gray Nobles, of Eastpoint ; his mother, Catherine Nobles; a sister, Beth Waters and her husband Dickey, all of Ocala; his forever partner in fun, his brother Mark Nobles, of Carrabelle and two nieces, Mandee Waters and Katie Lunsford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 15 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Tallahassee followed by graveside services at MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service at 1 p.m. Pallbearers will be Scott Benson, Doug Brock, Bruce Linton, Larry Perryman, Buddy Shiver, and Jim Watkins.
