Rainey served honorably in the U.S. Navy, including sea service aboard the USS Pittsburgh as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class. Rainey was a Pipefitter and retired member of The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.
He is survived by his sons Robin Crosby (Sandra) of Tallahassee FL and Gary Crosby of Perry, FL; three stepsons, Sid Lingerfelt (Donna) and Earl Lingerfelt of Tallahassee, FL, Kyle Lingerfelt, of Montana, his stepdaughter Michelle Mills (Rick) of Gainesville and siblings Winola Thompson and Bobby Crosby. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 PM January 7, 2023, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home.
Rainey was a son of the late E. E. and Emma Spears Crosby. His sister, Ann Boland and brother Raymond Crosby also preceded him in death.
