For those of us who knew Errol Palmer… Pastor, Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend… you will know that when Errol saw you for the first time or even after many years there is an instant rapport. It seems as though you have known him for many years. Errol represented timeless love! You may be different from him but something about the love he expresses binds the relationship to something that never changes between you and him. The love and affinity Errol expressed for his wife Collette Palmer, daughter Candace Palmer, granddaughters, Kismet (Seymens) Palmer, Kassia (Seymens) Palmer and Makeda Palmer, were all beyond measure. In the same way, Errol was a loving, kind and nurturing father-figure to son, Stephen Newbold and all of whom he loved unconditionally. Niece Alecia puts it best when she proclaimed: “Errol was a permanent fixture in our family from the day he found my mother, his sister Barbara”. We all knew that special bond and love Errol shared with each and every one of us.
Spoken, yet deeply unspoken especially in his later days here with us… Errol spirits remained connected and genuinely appreciative of what he shared with all of us when we were together. Errol loved and embraced each and every sibling he had knowledge of. His kind heart operated within the realm of close, closer and closest as he and big brother Evrold knitted us together: Dorrette Palmer, Sharon Palmer, Marcia Palmer, Dorothy Palmer, Alice Palmer, Marie Palmer, Keisha Palmer, Evrold Palmer, Donavan Palmer, Sophie Palmer and Barbara (Palmer) Campbell with whom he will now celebrate a reunion of joy. In addition, each sibling mentioned here helped to broaden Errol’s family capacity with their spouses who then also became sisters and brothers to him. Errol acknowledged all union which provided him with a tremendous wealth of love through extended families which included his loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nobody knew Errol better as a child than his loving sisters Dorrette Palmer and Sharon Palmer. These three siblings shared an exceptionally close bond. These sisters disclosed Errol as the most kind and generous child growing up. He was a husky kid and he would spend his youth taking food out of their grandparents' shop to feed the young boys in the neighborhood. Errol was affectionately known by several different names:
BIG STUFF (because he was husky and loveable), he was called DUBWISE (because he loved music) He was called COUNCILOR (because he loved politics). Errol was loved by everyone and even now people from his childhood neighborhood still ask for him because of the impact he had on people. Errol had a special name for each of his siblings whether they were near and far. Errol was given everything by his loving grandparents with whom he will now reunite in love. His Aunt Gloria and Uncle Allan loved him dearly and they will really miss him.
Though some days were hard for you our dear sweet brother, you continued to allow God to transform your despair and suffering into a beautiful testimony of hope-filled praise as you encouraged us all with your kind words and daily devotions. Errol’s love was in no hurry it would never leave him, his love would always just wait to be recognized and for everyone to become aware of his everlasting love for them. He was that which life behold because Errol knew and lived love and was loved dearly by many. Errol’s love was timeless and unlimited. In his own words he taught us that “Our thoughts come and our thoughts go, our feelings come and our feelings go”. In the same way, our lives come and our lives go. But the sky of God remains the same, untouched by the fleetingness of life.
As we all remember Errol let us also be reminded that the sky of God remains the same untouched by the fleetingness of life. The sky which represents Errol remains the same. Endless… endless expanse was the ceaselessness of forever which is his love and spirit. Errol’s love was unlimited even when there were limitations. His accommodating and kind ways will always be engraved in our hearts and soul. His love gave us depth and vision, clarity and purpose, compassion and comprehension. His love was a mystery, a beautiful mystery that continually unfolded and challenged extreme occurrences to expand who and what he believed himself to be.
Again, to know our Errol was to know love. He allowed love to take him over by way of merging as many of his blood relatives together as he possibly could. Errol made it one of his life’s mission to connect his family. Errol merged with his closest brother Evrold. Together they both took Jamaica by storm knitting and connecting the Palmer family Quilt… along with all others who were connected by way of marriage or other. It was no different when Errol landed in the United States of America. He made sure he found others to include his beloved sister Barbara (Palmer) Campbell and her loving family, who gifted him with his niece Alecia and nephew Raymond whom he loved dearly. Errol’s love was powerful and outside of the norm, he showered all he knew with love. We are all extremely saddened by the passing of an excellent man of God. Errol used God to deal with difficult situations and so transformed them to being agreeable, pleasing and even enjoyable. His sincere love, affection, generosity and kindness shall remain unblemished in our own hearts. His dearest niece June puts it best; when she said, “His love was unconditional, he had incredible strength, his faith was powerful”. Candace, his beautiful daughter, saw her father as strong, compassionate, strong, and comforting. He would protect her and his granddaughters to the maximum of his abilities. Candace also saw her father as loving, empathetic, intelligent and knowledgeable. All of which provided her and her girls a safe and secured place within his heart.
Dearest and sweet Brother Errol your love was unrestricted. You may be sleeping away from your earthly family and friends but please realize that your love has now brought you to a new awakening and joy. Our dearest brother Errol, your love was like the sky and everything else was like the clouds.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
Psalms 116: V.15

Rest in Holy Peace!
Amen…
