

George Menzies passed away peacefully on August 13, 2021, three days after his 91st birthday. He was born in Colon, Panama to the later George Cecil Menzies and Clarice May Lindo. He had two brothers (one deceased) and five sisters (four deceased).
George attend school in the Rainbow City Canal Zone in Panama. George started working at age sixteen at the cold storage distribution company in the Canal Zone. He later moved to Panama City where he worked at Balboa Shoe Company as the store manager. He worked on the Canal Zone for thirty six years until retirement.
George met the love of his life, Izla Menzies in 1962 while living in Chorillo, Panama and they got married in 1964. They later relocated to 16th Street Rio Abajo, Panama. In 1979, Mr. and Mrs. Menzies migrated to the United States. They resided in Danbury, Connecticut until 1995 then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They traveled extensively, visiting five continents. George was a gifted vocalist, singing and recording an album with the “LaBoca Alumni Chorus”. George had a passion for playing dominoes and was always up for a good challenge. He was an avid newspaper reader and extremely well informed with current events.
George personified class, dignity and graciousness in all of his personal interactions and was greatly admired and respected. “What a Man”.
Izla preceded George in death in 2020, but is survived and will be greatly missed by his sister and brother, Alicia Menzies-White, Clarence Leopoldo McNish Lindo, his children Debra, Rodolfo, George and Tracy, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for George will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bailey Memorial, 6701 West Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, FL 33319.
