

Helen Zaniewski Papeika, 92, Lauderhill, FL passed away on March 13. Born in New Haven, CT, she lived in the New Haven/Hamden area for 40 years, then in Marblehead, MA for 17 years and finally in Pompano Beach, FL. She was the daughter of John and Victoria (Miaskowska) Zaniewski, one of the founding families of St. Stanislaus RC Church, New Haven, CT.
Helen is survived by her children, Phyllis (Frank) Milmore of Oviedo, FL, Sandra Papeika of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Robert Papeika, of Plantation, FL and grandchildren Christine Vazquez, Valerie Milmore, Rachel Papeika and Jonathan Papeika, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Stanley Papeika, daughter-in-law Andrea Papeika and grandson David Papeika. She was also predeceased by sisters, Victoria Heigelmann, Anna Chomicz, Sr. Josephine Marie Zane and Frances Wanat and brothers, John Zane, Anthony Zane and Brig. General Felix Zaniewski.
Helen never stopped wanting to learn new things. A life long Catholic, she was proud of her Polish heritage. She was a Real Estate Broker, a volunteer in scouting, Newcomers Clubs and church activi-ties. She played tournament basketball as a teenager and loved golf and swimming. She also enjoyed music and playing the piano. A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 10am at
St. Malachy Catholic Church 6200 N. University Dr. Tamarac, Fl. Inurnment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, N. Lauderdale, Fl.
