Mrs. Ina Blanche Sinclair nee Smith, (Miss Ina) of Tamarac, Florida was granted her angelic wings at the age of 100 years old, on Tuesday September 26, 2023, in the Woodmont Hospital at 7201 University Drive Tamarac, following a short illness. She was surrounded at her bedside with love by her four children Sonia, Carole, Rosemarie and Patrick as she made her transition.
She was born July 6, 1923, in the quiet community of Epworth in the cool, tranquil hills of St Ann Jamaica, to Joseph Smith and Alexandrina (Aggie) Smith nee Wilcott. She attended Epworth Elementary school and at eighteen she left her hometown to St. Ann’s Bay where she pursued training as a seamstress. She met and married her husband Ancel Sinclair on December 20, 1942 (deceased). She also worked in the public health department in St Ann’s Bay during the period 1971 to 1984.
Mrs. Sinclair lived at 73 Gully Road for a period prior to moving to Windsor Heights. Windsor Heights was home from the early ‘60s until she migrated to New York in the United States to join her children in 2003. She moved to Florida in 2006 where she would spend the rest of her life surrounded by family and friends.
Miss Ina as she was famously called was a dominant, yet gentle person whom the entire community came to know and trust for her infinite wisdom and care. Her door was always open to the children of the community, from near and far. Countless have grown to call her Gran or Mom; she never turned anyone away.
Miss Ina was a selfless human being with a great sense of humor and strong sense about what was needed most by those she loved. She offered unconditional love for every family member, always sharing her opinion, solicited or not. Ina touched so many people in her long life. She was loyal to her friends, devoted to her children and was the fun grandma. Ina loved to read, especially her Bible. She will be greatly missed by so many. But above all she was a living example of a servant of God.
Survivors include her brother Noel Jack Smith (99 years old), daughters Sonia, Carole and Rosemarie, and son Patrick: twenty-two grandchildren; sixty-five great grandchildren; thirty-six great-great grandchildren; son in laws, daughter in laws, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and countless friends.
