and was the ninth child to Mr. Estephen Leroy and Mrs. Decilia Exavier Leroy.
On April 4th, 2023, Irene passed away at her residence in Lauderhill, Florida and now
is present with the lord.
Born to a resilient and hard working family, Irene learned at an early age to
care and contribute to assisting her family, especially in times of need. For
example, Irene sacrificed furthering her education to help with the care of her
father who fell sick and she volunteered to help her mother in every way possible,
therefore leading her in becoming a street vendor where she traveled city to city
to buy goods and to resell them within her community. With the hardships her
beloved Haiti was facing, Irene’s desire for a better life grew immensely and this
led to her brave decision of immigrating to the United States in 1981. If you knew
Irene, this was not surprising as she took a leap of faith to a foreign place where
she knew no one, however Irene was determined to conquer the opportunities to
come in any way.
Irene slowly, yet surely adapted to her new found life in America where she
for instance, landed her first job in the hospitality industry and over time, the dry
cleaning as well as retail industries. Her greatest accomplishment was the births of her three daughters, Marjorie (1985) and identical twins, Sofonie & Malachie (1989) Fleuridor. Irene instilled the same work ethics, strength, and morals she grew up having within her daughters, as she wouldn't see it any other way. Irene had a big heart and an infectious smile that would light up a room. If you were
down or in need, you knew you could depend on her as she’d give her last for
those she cared for. Being in her presence meant you were in for a good time of
laughter as she loved to joke as well as endless storytelling, which always had a
lesson to take with you in the end. Last, Irene was a simple human being who
wanted to live a peaceful life and she was working on just that as she was
preparing to retire.
