Shirley Joyce Hinds

Shirley Joyce (Bramwell) Hinds, age 84, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on Tuesday February 14, 2023. Shirley was born on April 3, 1938 in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica to parents Ivy May Reid Bramwell and Arnold George Bramwell. She went to Beckford and Smith (St. Jago High School). In 1961, Shirley graduated from nursing school and went on to complete a diploma course in Community Health at the University of the West Indies in 1984. She began work at the St Jago Health Department on August 1, 1984 as a Public Health Nurse. Later she continued to work in various fields of nursing in both New York and Florida before retiring.

Prior to and during her retirement, she divided her time between the U.S. and Jamaica before settling fully in Tamarac, Florida in 2016.

She is survived by her children; sons Donovan and Kevin; Children by marriage, Karen, Janice, Debra, Janiene, Nicholas, and Althea; grandchildren by marriage Ryan, Skylar, Dominic, Aaliyah-Maje, Arianna, and Zori-Nicole; sister of Muriel Dyce and the late Barbara Bramwell. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A service to Celebrate the Life of Shirley will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Bailey Memorial, 6701 West Commercial Blvd., Tamarac, FL 33319 with a burial to follow in the Garden of Memories at Star of David Memorial Gardens, 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. The Repast will be immediately following the interment at SW Catering, Inc., 7786 NW 44th St, Lauderhill, FL 33351
